 PROGRAM

8:00-8:30 Registration and Breakfast - Sponsored by Manitoba Hydro
 8:30-8:40 Opening Remarks
Reynold Peters, CHES MB Chapter Chair
 8:40-9:00 Opening Session
Healthcare Facilities Challenges - Avoiding Disasters, New Discoveries and Even a Few Delights - Presentation
Craig Doerksen, HSC Divisional Director, Facility Management / CHES National Treasurer

Healthcare facilities in Canada, and in particular in Manitoba, are aging faster than they are being replaced or significantly upgraded. This further pressures the restricted maintenance and capital infrastructure budgets to maximize the investment benefit. Knowing where to investment is therefore even more critical too. So – do we know our buildings well enough to identify and prioritize the project needs and the funding? Do we have enough information to go forward to our funders to show them the funding needs and issues? Do you and your team know your facilities well enough? Are you technically able to assess your building and its current building systems. What about implementing and moving to new emerging building technologies? What role can consultants play in this? Can you expect consultants to invest the necessary time to have an overall view? Just systems based? Or just focused on a solution? Finally what have been some experiences, disasters, discoveries and delights.

Key takeaways:
  - how to document and tracking own information
  - who does the facility rely on and involve for assessment
  - what does a facility document and how
  - how does a facility assess where to maintenance and capital funds

9:00-9:30 Documenting Your Systems: Knowing What You Have- Presentation 1, Presentation 2
  Sheri Atchison, Precision FM Solutions
Don Bushuk, Flatland Inspection Services

The successful management of hospital infrastructure relies on accurate and up to date record drawings.  Electrical and Mechanical systems can be complex and difficult to maintain, especially if not updated regularly.  Once up to date, accessing and reviewing the drawings can be challenging for technicians, especially in the field.  Flatland Inspection Services assists with the certification and capture of as-built conditions, and when incorporated into an electronic drawing system can be a powerful tool for day to day maintenance and project planning.  Accurate Drafting has developed Precision FM Solutions to allow multiple users to easily access and review architectural, mechanical, and electrical systems in advance of opening up walls.  This presentation will discuss the benefits of these types of systems and how they can assist in Facility Management.

9:30-9:50  Computerized Maintenance Management Systems Basics and Beyond - Presentation

Health care budgets are limited and often do not get increased year to year yet systems continue to age. How can you as administrators maximize your current and past investments with respect to building systems and more specifically, your building automation systems? During our discussion the following topics will be covered:
  - Preventative Maintenance
  - System Analytics
  - Systems Integrators – A new approach to building automation systems
  - Procurement – how to limit sole source requirements
