Richard Dixon is president of R&C Dixon Consulting Ltd. which provides consulting services to large health care facilities. Richard has 30 years of experience in administration, planning, design, construction and commissioning of health facilities in Canada (mainly in British Columbia and Ontario), China, Egypt, Qatar, Russia and Vietnam.

In addition, Richard is the current vice chair of the CSA Infection Control during Construction, Renovation or Maintenance in Health Care Facilities Committee (Z317.03-07), a member of the CSA Health Care Facilities Committee (Z8000-11), a member of the CSA Health Care Technical Committee plus teaches infection control training sessions to hospitals, consultants and contractors throughout western Canada.

Currently Richard lives in Vancouver, BC but his experience and knowledge has a global reach

Overview:

Establishing a thorough infection control system with the necessary procedures that ensure current, relevant information is maintained is critical to protecting patients, staff and visitors.

CAN/CSA-Z317.13 lays the foundation for effective infection control measures when health care facilities are undergoing construction, renvoation or maintenance.  The national Standard of Canada has recently been updated including new areas of coverage, new system requirements and information.
